Brewed with well water (the Old Brewery's original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use, and hard well water is pumped from 85 feet underground); the finest malted barley and a generous amount of select aromatic hops; fermented on "Yorkshire stone squares" to create an exceptionally flavorful, complex beer with abundant maltiness and a fruity hop character.
The bottle label is based on Samuel Smith's Victorian letterhead when the brewery was a contractor to Her Majesty Queen Victoria's forces.
