Brahma Chopp is one of Brazil’s most classic and widely consumed beers, originally brewed in the 1930s to bring the authentic draught-bar flavor to the home. It is notable for its exceptional lightness and high drinkability, making it an extremely refreshing choice. With 4.8% alcohol by volume and a mild bitterness of 10 IBUs, it has a balanced profile with a neutral flavor, light cereal notes and a very discreet herbal touch. The finish is dry and refreshing, offering an easy-to-drink experience.
As a true icon of Brazilian brewing tradition, the recipe uses a combination of malt, hops and corn (the latter added as an adjunct to provide its characteristic lightness). It is best enjoyed very cold—ideal for tropical climates. Although the name includes “Chopp” (historically referring to unpasteurized draught beer), Brahma Chopp is pasteurized; the name also pays tribute to the Hindu god Brahma. A classic, versatile beer suited to any celebration.
